FanPost Friday: Don’t Stop Belief Checkin’

We’re just going to keep saying it until it’s not true anymore, but this is an IMPORTANT HOME STAND!

MLB: Seattle Mariners at Houston Astros
shoot the arrow of pure, unconditional love <3
Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports

Hello and welcome back to another FanPost Friday: PLAYOFF PUSH Edition (TM). Apologies to the current/former karaoke DJs out there for any long dormant bad memories that headline stirred up (Please post your lists of banned karaoke songs in the comments and let’s fight about it).

As we all hoped, the Mariners swept the struggling yet still venomous Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix. It required extra innings twice to get the job done, putting some unnecessary strain on the Mariners bullpen, but wins are wins and the Mariners did not let us down. Rolling into the terrorzone of Minute Maid Park was a different story, of course. When it comes down to it, though, the Mariners were one fewer Alex Bregman dinger away from a series win, as they fought hard on Sunday for a gutty comeback victory just hours after letting Saturday’s game slip away. It was nice to end the 2021 regular season campaign with the hated Astros on a defiant, positive note. Will the Mariners see them again in October? (/shocked gasps, babies cry, haters grumble) Well, let’s take a look at last week’s BELIEF CHECK results first.

The results are remarkably similar to last week’s poll, which I was honestly not expecting after the embarrassing Royals series and a rough go with the Astros. Maybe folks waited to vote until the Mariners got a couple wins against the D-Backs and got their optimism flowing again. About 100 more people voted in this poll compared to the previous one, so this is far, far from an exact science, but it seems like more people have jumped on the NO ONE BELIEVES IN US/FUN DIFFERENTIAL/WE ARE ALL GOLDFISH bandwagon at this point and that is pretty damn exciting to see. You’re all Mariners fans here and you know how rare a September like this is for Seattle. Even if they fall short again, being this close is exciting as hell and clearly the org knows that and is practically begging folks to pack the house for the extremely critical series with the Boston Red Sox starting Monday.

Until Sunday, you can snag $9 view level seats and $18 main level seats. Quite a deal considering the Sox are one of the “marquee” matchups that usually drives ticket prices up.
