Expect traffic delays in eastern Atlantic County Sunday for the Ironman Triathlon.

The Ironman 70.3 Triathlon will be held in Atlantic City Sunday, Sept. 12 and will impact traffic patterns in Atlantic City and the Downbeach area.

The first leg of the triathlon will be held in the bay off Bader Field. The biking portion will be held on roadways throughout Atlantic County and the triathlon ends with a run on the Atlantic City Boardwalk and the Ventnor City boardwalk.

Roadways throughout Atlantic City and Atlantic County will be heavily impacted. In Atlantic City, motorists traveling on and crossing over the Albany Avenue bridge will experience heavy delays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition, heavy foot traffic is expected on the Boardwalk between 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m..

The Atlantic City Police Department will have officers assisted with traffic along Albany Avenue.

Other areas that will experience traffic delays include:

Atlantic City Expressway Exits #1 (Atlantic City Connector), #2, #3, #4, and #5 will be CLOSED from 3:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ventnor, Margate, Longport and Brigantine. Entering from US Route 322, plan to use West End Avenue or the Margate Downbeach Express toll road into Margate to avoid congestion at Albany Avenue.

In Pleasantville and Egg Harbor Township, expect traffic delays and detours along Delilah Road, Westcoat Road, Atlantic County Route 651, and New Road from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
