Top ten P4P UFC stars across all weight divisions revealed… but does Conor McGregor even make list after defeats?

JON JONES remains the UFC's top dog following years of supremacy - despite his recent inactivity.

The American, who is the UFC's youngest champion of all time aged 23, has only a disputed disqualification loss on his 28-fight record.

He is yet to return amid the coronavirus pandemic, but has still remained atop of the UFC's pound-for-pound list.

Several are threatening to catch up on him, but one who isn't is Irish superstar Conor McGregor, who has lost three of his last four fights.

Here, SunSport runs down the UFC's official P4P top ten men's rankings.

1. Jon Jones

The aforementioned Jones has beaten legends in Mauricio Rua, Rampage Jackson, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, and Vitor Belfort in his early career.

His more recent wins include Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson, both of which are now either retired or sidelined.

But controversial points wins over Thiago Santos and Dominick Reyes saw Jones' cloak of invisibility suffer.

A move up to heavyweight to rejuvenate his career has been mooted, but pay disputes with the UFC have so far kept the switch on ice.

2. Kamaru Usman

The welterweight champion has become one of the most dominate fighters in Dana White's stable after winning the belt from Tyron Woodley in 2019.

Wins over Colby Covington, Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal have helped cement him as a top attraction in the UFC.

His blend of accomplished grappling skills and new-found striking abilities make Usman one of the most well-rounded champs in the roster.

With Jones inactive, and Khabib Nurmagomedov retired, he has made his claim to being the true No1 in the world.

3. Israel Adesanya

The New Zealander is a huge fan-favourite due to his eye-catching striking style and personality outside the octagon.

Adesanya beat middleweight icon Anderson Silva in 2019 and won the middleweight title against Robert Whittaker in the same year.

He looked near-off unstoppable until he moved up to light-heavyweight this year but was beaten on points by champ Jan Błachowicz.

Adesanya then returned to middleweight with a win over old rival Marvin Vettori in June, proving his worth as one of the best in the business.

4. Alexander Volkanovski

Currently the featherweight king, Volkanovski is undefeated in the UFC and won the title in an upset against Max Holloway in 2019.

A year later he won the rematch, but in controversial style as the scorecards were questioned.

Nevertheless, a double over Holloway and wins against Brazilian legend Jose Aldo as well as Chad Mendes stand out on Volkanovski's record.

He makes the second defence of his crown against Brian Ortega on September 25, at UFC 266.

5. Francis Ngannou

Ngannou broke into the UFC in 2015 and six explosive stoppages later he challenged for the heavyweight title.

But he was beaten on points by Stipe Miocic in 2018 and then returned gun-shy against Derrick Lewis in the same year.

It proved a learning lesson for Ngannou, who then won four straight before rematching Miocic for the belt in March.

And 'The Predator' completed his turnaround with a stunning KO and launched himself into the P4P discussion.

6. Dustin Poirier

Poirier has done it all in the UFC bar winning the undisputed title and is undoubtedly a hero to fans.

He claimed the interim lightweight strap against Holloway in 2019 but was beaten by Khabib for the full version a year later.

More recently, he knocked out in January McGregor - seven years after losing their first fight - and won the trilogy in July after the Irishman suffered a leg break.

His run of eight wins in nine has him lined up to challenge newly crowned champion Charles Oliveira, and beating the Brazilian could push him into the top three.

7. Jan Blachowicz

The Polish puncher enjoyed a renaissance in his career 2017 after he went on a run of seven wins in eight fights.

It saw him lined up to challenge for the light-heavyweight title in September 2020 which had been vacated by Jones.

And Blachowicz sealed his Cinderella story by upsetting Reyes to clinch the vacant crown.

But his successful defence against superstar Adesanya is what put him among the elite and proved he can mix it with the greatest in the world.

8. Stipe Miocic

Miocic holds the record for most heavyweight title defences with three and won the title twice.

He first won the belt in 2016 but lost it to Daniel Cormier in 2018 and went on to have a historic trilogy with the Olympian, later twice winning.

Miocic surrendered the title to Ngannou and is yet to return since but hinted he will not retire.

His record-breaking accomplishments in the division rightfully keep him among the best in the UFC stable.

9. Max Holloway

The American is one of the most celebrated fighters and strikers of all time.

He made four defences of the featherweight title before losing it to Volkanovski and many feel he should he won the rematch.

Holloway proved his class on his return in January as he butchered Calvin Kattar with a brutal display of striking.

Another shot at the title and potentially Volkanovski could be in his future but it cannot be denied he is one of the gifted fighters in the world.

10. Charles Oliveira

The Brazilian was 3-3 after six fights from 2015-2017 and looked to have his UFC future in doubt.

But an inspired run from 2018-2021 saw Oliveira win nine straight including for the lightweight title.

He beat Michael Chandler for the title in May after it was vacated by Khabib and completed a remarkable turnaround for Oliveira.

The new lightweight ruler is set to defend his crown against Poirier next and it will be the biggest fight in his career.
