Kevin Durant’s Series ‘Swagger’ to Premiere on Apple TV+ This October

As this year’s NBA season inches closer and closer, basketball legend Kevin Durant has something special in store. His new series, Swagger, will land on Apple TV+ in October, and is set to follow his own experiences in the world of youth basketball. The ten-episode season is helmed by creator and showrunner Reggie Rock Bythewood, with Durant set to executive produce.

Swagger will follow young basketball players, their families, and the coaches who “walk the fine line between dreams and ambition, and opportunism and corruption,” per Apple TV+’s description. “Off the court, the show reveals what it’s like to grow up in America.”

O’Shea Jackson Jr. will lead the show as Ike, a former star player who’s become a youth basketball coach. Under his wing will be Isaiah Hill, starring as Jace Carson, a basketball wunderkind who’s currently one of the top ranked youth basketball players in the country. Academy Award-nominated actress Quvenzhané Wallis also stars in the series as Crystal, another top young basketball player.

Along with Jackson Jr., Carson, and Wallis, key players also include Shinelle Azoroh, Caleel Harris, James Bingham, Solomon Irama, Ozie Nzeribe, Tessa Ferrer, Tristan Mack Wilds and Jason Rivera.

The series is created by showrunner Bythewood, who also wrote, directed, and executive produced the project. Durant served as executive producer alongside Imagine Television Studios’ Brian Grazer. Also serving as executive producers are Rich Kleiman, Samie Kim, Francie Calfo and Samantha Corbin-Miller.

This new sports saga comes on the heels of Apple TV+’s wildly successful soccer series, Ted Lasso, which was just nominated for a whopping 20 Emmy Awards. Swagger will take the place of Ted Lasso‘s Friday premiere slot, debuting with the second season another Apple TV+ heavy hitter, The Morning Show.

Swagger will have an exclusive global premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, Oct. 29 with three episodes. New episodes of Durant’s series will drop weekly every Friday through Dec. 17.
