Dexter Morgan Has a Whole New Life in the Latest Trailer for ‘Dexter: New Blood’

Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is back...and he’s ready for new blood.

On Thursday, Showtime released the brand-new trailer for the reboot series, Dexter: New Blood, and there’s a lot to unpack. For one, Dexter seems to have started a new life under the alias Jim Lindsay, working in retail and faking a committed relationship.

However, even a decade later, he is still haunted by his inner demons, which communicate with him through the voice of his dead adopted sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter). “You are a serial killer,” the voice says in part of the clip. “You love that you're getting away with murder. You cannot wait to kill again. Have you learned nothing?”

And while the three-minute clip doesn’t show Morgan killing anyone, we do see a local kid go missing under mysterious circumstances. Watch the official trailer of Dexter: New Blood below.

Showtime’s official synopsis reads, “Set ten years after Dexter went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, Dexter: New Blood finds him living under an assumed name in the fictional small town of Iron Lake, New York. Dexter may be embracing his new life, but in the wake of unexpected events in this close-knit community, his Dark Passenger inevitably beckons.”

Featuring ten new episodes, the new series is not a continuation of the original. Per showrunner Clyde Phillips, they basically started “from scratch.”

“I mean, 10 years have passed—however many years have passed—by the time this will air, and the show will reflect that time passage in so far as the ending of the show,” Phillips said, per E! News. “This will have no resemblance to how the original finale was and it's a great opportunity to write a second finale for a show.”

Dexter: New Blood will be available to stream on Sunday, November 7, and will also air on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
