‘You will be dearly missed:’ Charlton County 911 dispatcher dies of COVID-19

FOLKSTON, Ga. — The Charlton County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of their own.

Sheriff Robert Phillips took to social media to announce the death of Lynn Cribb Johnson, a beloved 911 dispatcher.

The sheriff’s office confirmed to Action News Jax that she died after contracting COVID-19.

“Although you may not know her by sight, she’s that voice that answered your distress call,” Phillips wrote. “Thank you Lynn for your service to your fellowman in the most unselfish and kind way! You will be dearly missed by your family and your coworkers,” he added.

Johnson was an employee of the sheriff’s office for more than 31 years. Phillips described her as a caring person who showed concern for others like a mother would.

It is unknown whether Johnson was vaccinated or not.

At least a dozen first responders in the Jacksonville area have died from the virus.
