After the Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings made a mistake in their sign and trade for Bogdan Bogdanovic, the Atlanta Hawks pounced. They signed him to a long-term deal which, given how young the squad is, gives him a tremendous chance to grow with the likes of Trae Young and John Collins.

It did not start well for Bogdanovic and the franchise. Under head coach Lloyd Pierce, he seemed to struggle with his shot in the first nine games. Then he tripped in the middle of the court and fractured his kneecap which caused him to miss the next two months.

When he came back Bogdanovic was like a gift to Nate McMillan. Bogdanovic returned the same game that McMillan took over and gave him some more depth at the wing position. Bogdanovic would then go on a shooting tear which helped take some of the pressure of Trae Young and helped the Hawks to a surprise playoff berth.

The Atlanta Hawks saw more from Bogdan Bogdanovic than they expected in the playoffs

When he came into the league, Bogdanovic had the reputation of being a tremendous shooter. He did not get to show his full potential with the Kings but when he was utilized by McMillan his prowess came through.

However, what was equally as impressive is what happened during the playoffs. Bogdanovic hurt his knee and played pretty much the entirety of the Eastern Conference semi-finals hurt. He was not as effective on offense but would go on to lead the playoffs in steals, showing incredible heart and courage in his efforts. He also showed that you can impact a game without your primary skill working well.
