Video celebrates 30 years since the album’s release

Brian May has released a short film in celebration of the 30th anniversary reissue of his debut solo album, Back to the Light. May has spent the better part of 2021 revisiting the album, meticulously remastering and repackaging it for a new lease of life, which also includes three original videos from the era, and a newly created short film.

“I’ve polished up the three original videos from 1992, but the ‘Back to the Light’ video is brand new – a short film with a story to tell,” May shares.

May assumes the role of a time traveler to pull off a meeting in time that hasn’t previously been attempted.

Following its premiere on Friday (Sept 10th), May went live on Instagram to discuss the project with followers from around the wrold.

Back to the Light was released last month in a Collector’s Edition box set featuring an exclusive white vinyl LP, two CDs, a 32-page book, a 12” art print, a download card and an enamel badge all presented in a lift-lid box. A limited edition of one thousand of the same box set sold out quickly exclusively on Queen Online Store with a signed 12” art print.

The album is also available as a single black 180-g vinyl, single CD, Deluxe 2 CD, cassette and digital formats, with Out of the Light available in the box set, on the 2 CD and digital formats. A limited edition single LP Picture Disc was also available via the Queen Online Store, but has since sold out.

A Top 20 hit on its initial release in November 1992, “Back to the Light” opened The Brian May Band’s concerts around the world, drawing audiences in with the plaintive verses, before raising the roof with its optimism-fired choruses.

May has confirmed he’s working on giving Another World and other releases the same treatment, although no timeline has been unveiled as of press time.
