‘Wearing the colors of Ken Stabler’, John Cena shouts out the Snake on ‘The Tonight Show’

While throwing footballs at glass panels painted with their faces on “The Tonight Show,” host Jimmy Fallon and guest John Cena didn’t exactly perform the way the NFL legends they referenced did decades ago.

During the game “Facebreakers,” wherein the first person to smash his opponent’s faces (via glass panel) wins, “The Suicide Squad” star and WWE legend invoked a few NFL greats, channeling his inner Howard Cosell.

“With the grace of a beardless Dan Fouts,” Cena said, as he reared back and let the pigskin loose to smash Fallon’s face.

Then he dropped a hint and a from Alabama football great and NFL Hall of Famer, the Snake himself.

“Wearing the colors of Ken Stabler, he tries for the long pass,” said Cena, decked out in a silver and black three-piece suit.

The two struggle a bit at first and then hit a nice groove. Cena even has decent form for a former offensive lineman.

Cena definitely knows his football. He played center on the D-III Springfield College team, where he wore number 54.

And it wasn’t even the first time he referenced Alabama football on national television. We count three! He once dropped a “Roll Tide!” during a 2014 episode of “Monday Night Raw” in Birmingham, and he even played a Crimson Tide player during a sketch on “Saturday Night Live” in 2016.
