The Chicago White Sox will be playing host the Boston Red Sox this weekend. For Chicago, they are coming off a series loss to the Oakland A’s where the offense didn’t play well in the final two games. There are a lot of reasons for that but they need to be better in this series. They will be getting some very important people back against the Red Sox which should really help.

The Red Sox are in a very interesting position going into the series. They lead the New York Yankees by 1.0 game in the American League Wild Card race. As things stand right now, they would be hosting them at Fenway Park in the Wild Card Game. However, the Toronto Blue Jays have won eight in a row and are now 0.5 games behind the Yankees.

Beyond the Jays, the Oakland A’s and Seattle Mariners trail the Yankees by 2.0 games. There is a lot of action going on there with the race and the Red Sox are right in the middle of it. You can bet that the White Sox will be facing a team that is desperate that needs wins badly. If they want to take the series, they will need to be at their very best. It could be a situation where the White Sox plays a spoiler.

Carlos Rodon is going to return and make the start on Friday. He is going to face Tanner Houck who is 0-3 with a 3.26 ERA. Seeing Houck get the start for Boston is interesting but he is trying to get his team off to a good start in the series. Boston has not announced their starter for Saturday’s game but they will face Dylan Cease who is on for the White Sox.

The Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox have some big games this weekend.

Sunday is the game that would be considered the “big game” of the series. Chris Sale faces his old team for the first time in a few years. On the other side will be Lance Lynn who is returning from a 10-day IL stint. This is two aces are facing off in a very important game.

These two teams faced each other earlier in the season at Fenway and the White Sox split the series with them. These two teams are very different from the ones that played earlier in the season. A lot of the players are the same obviously but a lot has happened between now and then. Playing at home will also help the White Sox more. This is an exciting series to watch this weekend as a lot is on the line.
