The Milwaukee Bucks got over the hump and won their second NBA title in franchise history with a 4-2 win over the Phoenix Suns this past season.

It was undoubtedly a triumphant feat for the Bucks, considering their last title came 50 years ago, and they have been synonymous with disappointment in the time between. Milwaukee is on top of the world right now, and it seems safe to say that this franchise does not want to wait another 50 years to win another championship. Hopefully, they will not have to endure another brutal wait as their contending window appears wide open for the foreseeable future.

Still, the defending champions are being viewed as the underdogs in the weeks leading up to the new NBA season, largely due to the other top contenders making massive splashes in the offseason and getting their players healthy.

While they will not be favored, there is no doubt whatsoever that the Bucks could shock the world and make another title run next season. With that being said, here are three reasons they could win it again during the 2021-22 season.

No. 1 — The Milwaukee Bucks will have a massive confidence boost as the defending champs

Prior to this season, the Bucks had to have taken a hit mentally due to the brutal postseason woes they had endured.

In 2018-19, they boasted the best record in the regular season and steamrolled through the first two rounds of the postseason. Once they claimed a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals, it seemed inevitable that they would secure a trip to the NBA Finals. However, Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors would not give up that easy and reel off four consecutive victories to notch a berth in the Finals and eventually win their first championship. It was a disheartening blow for the Bucks, who seemed destined for great things that season.

The following year, they got off to a similarly scorching hot start to the regular season. They were on a historically great pace before the pandemic postponed the season momentarily. When things eventually resumed, the Bucks never quite looked the same. While they would earn the NBA’s top seed once again, it did not matter as they were blown off the floor in the second round of the NBA Playoffs against the Miami Heat, who were the fifth seed in the conference. Having lost the series 4-1, the Bucks once again got sent home in an embarrassing fashion.

Despite how mentally draining those losses had to be, the third time ultimately proved to be the charm for the Bucks as they would win the title. Part of that was how this team banded together and embraced the challenge. While P.J. Tucker’s famous “dog mentality” that he brought to the locker room when the team traded for him will be missed, the Bucks should have the necessary confidence after their title run. After breaking through that wall and securing a title, this team will have confidence that they can run it right back during the 2021-22 season.
