Sonya Essis is no ordinary rookie.

Last week, Essis became the first female referee to work a varsity game inside the Mid-Penn Conference.

This week on the Pa. High School Football Report, Essis spoke about her connection to the game and how the 48-year-old turned curiosity into opportunity as a member of the Capital Area Football Officials Association.

It was another milestone weekend for two MPC programs, as well, and Epler had a front row seat for both. We’ll also identify a couple of important week 3 games statewide and close with an important message by Benscoter.
