Women add former star Robertson to coaching staff

ANCHORAGE – One of the greatest players in Alaska Anchorage women's basketball history has returned to her alma mater as head coach Ryan McCarthy announced Thursday that Kiki Robertson has been hired as an assistant coach for the Seawolves.

A four-time all-conference point guard, Robertson racked up school and Great Northwest Athletic Conference records of 700 assists, 382 steals, 128 games started and 116 victories at UAA from 2013-17. The Honolulu native was a two-time GNAC Defensive Player of the Year (2014-15, 2016-17) and GNAC Tournament MVP (2015, 2016), leading the Seawolves to four straight league titles and four straight NCAA Tournaments, including a national runner-up finish in 2015-16.

"We are very excited to add Kiki to our staff," said McCarthy, who coached Robertson her entire Seawolf career. "After her pro career, she got into coaching and has developed into a great leader who will work well with our young ladies. As a former point guard in our system, she not only has perspective on what it takes to perform to our standards, but she has a deep understanding of exactly what we are trying to accomplish. Coach (Shaina) Afoa and I have been fortunate to add very talented alumni to our staff, and Kiki continues that special tradition."

After graduating from UAA, Robertson played one year of professional basketball in Germany, suiting up for CityBasket Recklinghausen in 2017-18. She then moved on to become head coach at prep alma mater Mid-Pacific Institute in Honolulu from 2018-21.

Robertson earned her bachelor's in health science from UAA with a minor in psychology in 2017.
