A group of Tigers was stronger than a group of Bears at Jackson Stadium on Thursday night.

The University of Northern Colorado (1-4-2) fell to the University of Missouri (4-2) 1-0 in its second match of the week, struggling to find an offensive groove.

Both teams were pretty evenly matched, at least according to the statistics, but UNC just couldn’t get the ball to find the net.

In fact, senior Lexi Pulley recorded the Bears’ first shot in the seventh minute of the game. The Tigers goalkeeper, however, was able to block her effort and keep the game scoreless.

Mizzou then got on the board in the 12th minute with a high right shot over senior goalkeeper Ashley Franza.

Despite the one goal, Franza was able to keep the Tigers from scoring again. They finished the first half with six shots and five on goal. Franza saved the other four.

The Bears defense stepped things up in the second half, holding the Tigers to just one shot on goal. This allowed the offense to take four shots at the goal.

Pulley recorded a second shot on goal shortly after the break but missed low left. She totaled four shots in the match.

Seniors Maddie Duren, Olivia Seddon, Cara Quinn, and sophomore Melina Faris all added shots of their own.

Unfortunately, the Northern Colorado team could not record an equalizer or pick up the much-needed win.

The Bears will return to action in a Sunday matchup at noon. They will play Cal State Fullerton, and the game will be available on ESPN+.
