The Washington Nationals plunked Freddie Freeman on purpose on Wednesday night. Come Thursday, the Braves star was ready for revenge.

No, Freeman didn’t charge the mound or incite violence in any way. Heck, this is Freddie Freeman we’re talking about. That’s not his style.

Instead, Freeman let his bat do that talking, hitting a game-tying home run against the Nats and trotting the bases as he always does.

Adam Duvall would follow with a solo shot to give the Braves a late lead.

Atlanta Braves: Will they sign Freddie Freeman to an extension?

Freeman isn’t guaranteed to return to Atlanta, as he’s due to hit free agency at the end of this season. It looks like the Braves are willing to let their first baseman test the market, which could turn out to be a mistake if he signs elsewhere.

Yet, it’s tough to see the Braves letting that happen. Freeman will get his money, and as the face of the franchise, expect Atlanta’s front office to make signing him their top priority once the season ends.

For now, though, their priorities lie elsewhere.
