Nintendo and LEGO are an awesome duo second only to Mario and Luigi, especially after the announcement of their new Bowser’s Airship set.

The gaming and toy giants' latest LEGO set encourages Nintendo players to build the weapon that first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3 in 1988 in Japan and the West in the early 1990s.

LEGO's buildable version comes with 1,152 pieces and measures in at 30cm in height, 35cm in width and 19cm in depth. Excitingly, the Airship can also be mixed and matched with other LEGO Nintendo sets.

As a standalone, the Bowser's Airship Expansion Set is pretty impressive because you can use it to build a physical obstacle course as in the Mario games. Don't worry, building instructions are included!

The course mode will include Bowser's Mecha Hand for smashing, a POW! Block and Rocky Wrench to make life a little more difficult for Mario or Luigi. In total, the level can run up to 90 seconds!

LEGO is also including mini-figures for three of Bowser's henchmen – Kamek, a Goomba and, of course, a Rocky Wrench.

All of the mini-figures are designed to interact with the course. For example, you can use Kamek's broom to knock over Bowser's hulking Mecha Hand.
