PlayStation Showcase 2021 Recap: God Of War: Ragnarok, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Marvel’s Wolverine, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake, & More

Earlier this week, PlayStation revealed that a new PlayStation Showcase is set to take place sharing a new look at the future of PlayStation and the games coming from PlayStation Studios. Some of the highlights from today’s presentation includes the first look at God of War: Ragnarok, two games coming from Insomniac Games, and more. Here is everything that was revealed during today’s PlayStation Showcase.

After numerous rumors about the next iteration of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, A remake has been officially announced. The game is being developed by Aspyr and will rebuild the game with modern tech, features, visuals, and more while maintaining the integrity of the story and characters. The game will be a console exclusive at launch.

Project Eve was announced. Players will take on the role of Eve, a survivor battling against invaders that expelled mankind from Earth. The game has a deliberate combat system where players have to pay attention to the attack patterns of various enemies and counter with precise timing. The game will also consist of platforming segments where Eve can scale walls, slide tactically, swing on ropes, and more.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was revealed earlier this year during the Summer Game Fest. Today at the PlayStation Showcase, the first official look at the game was revealed. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands takes the Borderlands experience and adds some DnD into the mix.

Following the reveal of Forspoken during the last two PlayStation Showcases, a new gameplay trailer revealing a little bit more behind the story was revealed. Forspoken is a story about Frey Holland, a directionless, gritty yet streetsmart young woman who magically gets transported to Athia, a land where fantasies and nightmares are suddenly very real. The game will be released in Spring 2022.

A new trailer for Rainbow Six Extraction was showcased. The game takes the Siege experience and focuses on cooperative play as Team Rainbow has to face off against the greatest terror that the world has ever seen, a lethal, mutating alien threat. The game is set to release in January 2022.

Alan Wake Remastered had been teased for while before finally being announced. This will be the first time that the game will be available for PlayStation. The game will be released on October 5 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

A first look at the upgrades for Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation 5 was shown off. It will be available in March 2022. Players can look forward to a range of technical and graphical improvements across the entire experience including performance enhancements for select vehicles and more.

There hasn’t been a lot of word or footage shown for GhostWire Tokyo. The game was delayed to next year. but we finally got a more detailed look at the game and its story which revolves around a mysterious fog that descends upon Tokyo and causes all of the city’s population to vanish. Players will awaken with mysterious abilities called Ethernal Weaving – a powerful art that attunes the elements with spiritual energy. Players will have to master their new abilities with other ghost-hunting equipment to face off against a variety of supernatural foes.

A new look at Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was released. The new trailer highlights more of the story which seems to revolve around the Guardians going up against The Church of Truth. The group seems to be doing some shady things all over the Galaxy. The game is set to release on October 26, 2021.

Bloodhunt is a battle royale game where players take on the role of a vampire from one of the various factions from Vampire The Masquerade. The game is coming to PlayStation 5 sometime later this year.

A new sizzle reel was shown off for DeathloopThe trailer reveals more locations and highlights some of the characters that you’ll have to defeat in order to break the loop. It also gives a little more context behind the main character Colt and why he seems  The game will be released next week on September 14, 2021.

A new game in collaboration with Radiohead was teased.  Kid A Mesia is an upside-down digital/analog universe created from Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood’s original artwork and audio design by Nigel Godrich. It commemorates the coming of age of Radiohead’s records, Kid A and Amnesiac. The game will be available to download this November, exclusively on PlayStation 5 and PC via the Epic Games Store.

Tchia is a game where players will explore New Caledonia, a small archipelago in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The new trailer showcased more gameplay and more of the locations that players can explore.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy are being remastered for PlayStation 5 and PC. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will be available for PS5 in Early 2022. The PC version is being developed by Iron Galaxy and will release shortly after the PS5 version.

Marvel’s Wolverine has been announced. The game is being developed by Insomniac Games who worked on Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Insominac Games wants to not only respect the DNA of the character but also look for opportunities to make it feel fresh.

A new look was revealed for the next Gran Turismo title, Gran Turismo 7. The trailer highlighted many of the cars that players can get behind the wheel of, the variety of customization options and many of the locations that players will travel to. The game releases on March 4, 2022 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been announced. The trailer gave us a first look at Venom who was teased at the end of the first game. The game will be released sometime in 2023. The trailer reveals a glimpse at some of the new abilities and suits that Peter and Miles will wear and the villains that they will have to face.

The first look at the sequel to God of War has been unveiled. God of War: Ragnarok picks up from the end of the last game and revolves around Kratos and Atreus’s hunt for answers on a way to stop the coming apocalypse that is Ragnarok. The trailer showcased new enemies, abilities, and fighting moves that players will utilize in the game. The trailer also highlighted many new and returning characters that Kratos and Atreus will come across during this journey.
