New York Yankees left-hander Zack Britton will be out of action until at least the end of the 2022 season after undergoing elbow surgery, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.
The 33-year-old had the UCL in his pitching elbow reconstructed and repaired - essentially Tommy John surgery - and a bone chip removed.
Britton hasn't appeared in a game since Aug. 19, when he allowed two hits and one earned run against the Minnesota Twins.
The Yankees placed Britton on the 10-day injured list shortly thereafter with a left elbow sprain before transferring him to the 60-day IL following a visit with Dr. Neal ElAttrache.
Before the injury, Britton was in the midst of his worst big-league season, which includes a 5.89 ERA and 5.46 FIP in 22 outings.
