We can all agree that the Dodge Challenger is one of the most iconic Muscle cars ever made. When you think 1970 Challenger, you probably think of the white 426 Hemi from the movie Vanishing Point. Although only one of the iconic white cars is said to have survived the movie, this plum crazy example, listed for sale at classiccars.com is not just a survivor, but apparently, a brand new car.

It’s worth noting that the car has undergone a full restoration sometime in the past few years and is in perfect condition. The plum crazy paint, with white stripe, is immaculate and all panel gaps look even. Someone really took the time with this MOPAR. Actually, the car has been owned by the same person for the last 30 years and was painted 27 years ago.

The black vinyl interior has been completely restored and features a center console with the original Slap Stick shifter for the original three-speed 727 automatic transmission. It also has the three-speaker “Rallye dash”, which was a desired option back in the day.

The 426 Hemi may be the most desired version, but this 440 Magnum is the next best thing. This one, in particular, is an original U-Code car, with the 440 Magnum, making 375 horsepower. However, it has been upgraded to the “Six Pack”, which replaces the “four-barrels” with three, two-barrel, Holley 2300 series carburetors. The car also comes wit hthe original carburetors and intake manifold.

Under light load, only the center 350 cfm carburetor was used, but mash the throttle and the other two 500 cfm Holley carburetors stepped into action and the rear tires become dust. Output is rated at 390 horsepower – 15 up from the four-barrel 440 Magnum. However, independent tests have shown figures of around 430 horsepower, but that’s a theme for another day.

The car is located in Stuart, Florida and is listed in the Chrysler registry. It also comes with a clean title and Fender data plate. And the price for all this Muscle car goodness? The current asking price is $70,000. Given the options list, 440 Six-pack under the hood, and overall condition of the car, we think it’s well worth it.
