One of the biggest stories surrounding the Ohio State football team’s season-opener against Minnesota was the surprise at both cornerback spots.

The expected starters at corner, Sevyn Banks and Cameron Brown, were both absent from the game. Banks was in an “emergency” backup role, and Brown did not travel with the team. Going into their week two heavyweight bout with Oregon, the health of both Banks and Brown was concerning.

As many know, Ryan Day just does not give any kind of injury reports. He has said many times he does not want to disclose injuries, and ultimately Day doesn’t want to get involved with revealing injuries. Here was Day’s recent response when asked about another injured Buckeye, the starting safety Josh Proctor,

"“I try to stay away from all that. You just don’t know how guys are going to continue to work during the week. So, we’ll see as we get closer to the game.”"

Day has put forth a policy of not revealing injuries since taking over the Head Coach spot. This is totally understandable, as a player’s health is personal sometimes, plus this prevents opposing teams from knowing who will play in their upcoming contests.

Clearly, it is unlikely there will be any kind of official announcement regarding Banks, Brown, or Proctor’s health before Saturday’s game.

Some good news did surface Wednesday afternoon regarding both Banks and Brown’s health. Dave Biddle of Bucknuts reported both Banks and Brown were seen coming off the practice field.

This is likely the best and most insight we will possibly get before the Oregon game. Now who knows whether they were full go or limited during practice.

Either way, the situation could certainly be worse. Oregon’s experiencing that first-hand as it sounds like their star defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux is very limited right now.

Biddle also delivered more good news after spotting Proctor leaving practice.

Overall, having both projected starting cornerbacks and Proctor practicing is great news. Emerging victorious over Oregon will only become more likely with a full and healthy secondary.
