Back in January, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes II and Oakley launched Mahomes’ Signature Series Collection. Now, Mahomes and Oakley have teamed up for the second iteration of his Signature Series Collection, with the debut of the brand-new Contrail design.
The Contrail is a blend of modern design with a uniquely ‘Mahomes’ aesthetic. Available in matte black with gold icons, the Contrail has a number of features celebrating Mahomes’ successes in the NFL and at Texas Tech. You’ll find things hidden in the design, alluding to stats from Mahomes’ professional and collegiate career.
There are also several other unique details such as an etched II (for Patrick Mahomes II) on the lenses and a signed microbag. The eyewear features the Prizm lens technology, which Mahomes has been using since he became Oakley’s first NFL athlete.
“It’s important to me that the eyewear in my Signature Series Collection represents my style off the field,” Mahomes said, via press release. “Since the beginning of my relationship with Oakley, I wanted to launch a modern lifestyle frame — it’s the perfect addition to my collection as it’s a timeless design with elevated features that make it suitable for anyone’s style.”
You might recall the viral CGI video shared by Mahomes just a few weeks ago, featuring what appears to be a spaceship delivering the Contrail glasses to Mahomes. This is actually Oakley’s ‘Contrail Delivery Service,’ a CGI spacecraft designed by Nicholas “Nickels” King made to deliver Mahomes and his family the first pair of Contrail’s ever built.
“When I’m designing new content, the more outlandish the better”, Nickels said, via press release. “Oakley’s innovations in optics is inspirational and I was very much looking forward to working with the brand to highlight the all-new eyewear and work with one of the greatest athletes in football.”
