Which two players would Falcons poach from Eagles roster?

When evaluating the rosters of the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles, neither team really separates from the other. However, the Eagles do have a few players who would instantly make an impact for the Falcons at positions of need.

Brandon Graham – EDGE

Atlanta’s rotating door at edge rusher has been a monumental issue on defense. Whether it be through the draft or free agency, the team has failed to find a difference maker who can consistently get after opposing quarterbacks. Going into the 2021 season, the Falcons’ top two choices are Dante Fowler and Steven Means. While Fowler had one impactful season in 2019 playing beside Aaron Donald, Means hasn’t done much to establish himself as a pass rusher throughout his career.

Eagles edge rusher Brandon Graham has applied pressure to the quarterback on a much more consistent basis and would be a instant upgrade for the Falcons’ front seven. In 2020, Graham accounted for eight sacks, nine QB hits, 39 hurries, and 29 tackles (lowest since 2013). If the Falcons could take just one player from the Eagles, Graham would be a tempting choice.

Brandon Brooks – Guard

Turning to the offensive side of the football, Brandon Brooks provides the Falcons with an immediate improvement over rookie Jalen Mayfield. Protecting Matt Ryan has been an issue the past several years as he is currently on a three-year streak of being sacked at least 40 times. The left guard spot was supposed to be held by Josh Andrews, who has now been placed on the injured reserve list with a broken hand sustained at practice.

Brooks, who missed all of 2020 with a torn achilles, has been an anchor along the Eagles’ offensive line, most notably as a pass protector. He’s only taken 79 snaps at left guard his entire career, 72 of which have come in 2015. So, while he sees 99 percent of his snaps at right guard, he would still be an instant upgrade over Mayfield, who’s even less experienced on the left side.
