Janine Butcher's latest scam has been exposed in EastEnders following an almighty row with Kat Slater and Sharon Watts.
Kat has clashed with Janine throughout the week over the custody of Scarlett Butcher, after Kat tried to gain custody of her son Tommy's sister.
In Thursday's episode (September 9), Phil was still at odds with Kat over her decision to prioritise Scarlett's custody hearing over getting him out of jail.
"I had to step up. She's Tommy's little sister and he cares about her," Kat argued.
Billy Mitchell came to Janine's defence by saying she's "alright", only for Kat to mention she's only alright unless "you're walking across a mountain in Scotland".
"This is Janine, lying, scheming Janine, She's not capable of being a mum for more than five minutes," Kat insisted.
Janine would soon confront Kat at the cafe to ask for a few minutes so she could plead her case properly.
She tried to convince Kat she is "completely legit" and able to "offer Scarlett a good life", but went wrong when she accused Kat and Phil's cab company of being a front to cover up crime.
"I love that girl so much," Janine then pleaded to win over Kat. "I know I have to be an honest and hard-working mum if I ever want to have Scarlett back."
Her cover was blown when Zack Hudson entered the cafe and referred to Janine as "Dr Bernstein" — revealing she'd been running a new scam after all.
Sharon and Janine discovered that Janine had been passing herself as a doctor, and had even recently 'treated' Sharon's baby Albie Watts.
"Oh come on, you were lapping that up," Janine sneered to Kat, quipping: "But then again, your brains always were in your bra."
Sharon and Kat then had a slanging match with Janine, where she quipped that Sharon would be moving into a nursing home by the time Albie is 10.
"You can sling all the arrows you want, but I know what you are. Poison. Pat [Butcher] would be turning in her grave," Sharon shot back.
Kat had the final say: "I'm going to tell the courts everything. You're finished, Janine."
Zack approached Janine after the row to lend a sympathetic ear, encouraging her to 'prove Pat wrong' for Scarlett's sake.
Later, Kat received an alarming call from Scarlett's social worker revealing the girl had run away from her foster home. Kat jumped to conclusions that Janine must be involved!
Friday's (September 10) episode will shine on a light on where Scarlett has gone, as well as setting the stage for a fire to rip through one home in Albert Square.
