The Oakland Athletics have been awaiting the return of Chris Bassitt, who was struck in the face by a batted ball and taken to the hospital in an absolute scary scene back in the middle of August. However, the Athletics received some good news from Bassitt himself, who said his return to the mound is “pretty dang close.”

Bassitt was joking around in the clip as well, and it is just awesome to see him back with the Athletics and back to his normal self. Of course, there are still some hurdles he has to clear, but the bottom line is that he is close to a return, which is huge for not just the Athletics but also for Bassitt.

Bassitt was in the midst of another nice season, posting a career-high 12 wins. His ERA is at 3.22 and he has also tossed a career-high 154 strikeouts on the year.

Usually, these injuries take months and months to heal from, and it has not even been a month since Bassitt was rushed to the hospital after the incident, so it is definitely a great thing to see him back. Whether or not Bassitt returns this season remains to be seen, but the fact he is close is good news for everybody.
