The first “Rally on the Green” food truck and brew fest in Vernon brought crowds to the site of CT Golf Land, on Aug. 28.

The festival featured local food vendors and several local breweries from Connecticut.

Band Off the Traxx played classic rock hits and entertained the crowd, which appeared to be enjoying a fun and relaxing evening, with delicious food and beverages.

Breweries included Alvarium, Back East, Black Hog, Color Blind, Counter Weight, and Bud Light Seltzer.

Organizers said most of their advertising for the event was via social media, as well as a few well-placed road signs in the Vernon area, so they were pleased to see so many people come out.

“I think that after putting it together in a short amount of time, the community was really ready to get out and be together,” said Tolland County Executive Director Candice Corcione.

“It was a great turnout,” said Missy Smith, Tolland County Chamber of Commerce director of Member Services, adding that the event is planned to be an annual one, and that they expect next year’s event to be bigger and better.

“Being our first time, it’s tough to gauge,” Smith said. “But, we’re really happy with the turnout, and the people are great.”

“Everyone I talked to said that the event was done ‘first class,'” Corcione said. “Considering it was a first time event and the weather was not really on our side, everyone says it was the start of something great to come. Next year we plan on more food trucks, more music, and the [new and improved CT Golf Land] venue should be pretty much up and running.”
