BBs are unwelcomed gifts outside wedding reception: Olmsted Township Police Blotter

A patch from the Olmsted Township Police Department.

OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, Ohio

Disorderly conduct: Jennings Road

Wedding guests at the West Side Irish-American Club on Sept. 4 contacted an off-duty officer working at the event and told him that a “wedding crasher” had just been asked to leave. The officer, who had a description of the suspect, went outside to ensure that the man had left the property.

While outside, the officer did not see the suspect, but heard what sounded like a BB gun being shot at cars in the parking lot. He confirmed that they were BBs while investigating the sounds.

At one point, the officer saw a man on the adjacent properties with what appeared to be a long rifle. He went toward the man, who entered a home. The suspect came out unarmed. The officer ordered the man to the ground. He complied.

The suspect admitted to “shooting trees,” but not parked cars. While talking with the suspect, it became clear to the officer that the suspect was highly intoxicated. The man was detained and cited for disorderly conduct and attempted assault. He was released to a sober family member.

Harassment: Oakwood Circle

A woman went to the police station at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 3 about someone she had met online who was harassing her. The victim asked the man several times to stop contacting her. She even created a new profile online to avoid the man.

However, after continued unwanted communications, she reported the incidents to police, who then contacted the man.

He was advised to cease and desist any further contact with the woman. The man, however, continued contacting her. A warrant for telecommunications harassment was obtained. He was later arrested without incident.
