There’s no denying that the color green is a hot commodity in the design world. A recent poll by Glidden paint uncovered that over 62% of Americans would be willing to use green paint somewhere in their home, and luckily, they have plenty of options to do so. Online searches for green paint also surged 200% this past year—and for good reason. The tranquil, grounded color is just what homeowners needed at a time when the world was all but calm.

As PPG recently announced, green is the top color pick for 2022, and they chose the muted green-grey, Olive Sprig, as their star color of the year. Now, another brand is hopping aboard the green train, as Glidden paint by PPG released their 2022 color of the year selection: Guacamole

Avocado has a firm grip on foodies everywhere, making it a darling inspiration for interiors as well. People’s attraction to green goes far beyond food choices, as punchy shades of green are infiltrating interior design in all aspects, from kitchen cabinetry to décor and, of course, paint choices.

“We’ve all saved beautiful green kitchens and earthy-inspired bedrooms on our Pinterest boards and TikToks over the past year and a half, driven by our need for calm, regrowth, and rejuvenation,” Kim Perry, Glidden paint color guru, said. “Now, with a little elbow grease and Glidden paint, DIYers and procrasti-painters everywhere can make their social screenshots a reality and hopefully gear up for some ‘precedented’ times in the future.”

This bright yet soothing green brings energy to any space, which can perfectly complement any organic design filled with plants, woods, and earth tones. Glidden gurus recommend using the color Guacamole in your home with “reckless abandon”—there’s really no limit to what you can do with the color.
