It is safe to say that while Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic exit was not one to remember, he did enjoy a very successful time at Parkhead and it was under his management that the club made the UEFA Champions League group stage for the last time.

It was under him that the Hoops were transformed into serial Treble winners and played some of their best football in recent memory. He did end up leaving the club in the middle of the season though, which is why he is not as popular among the fans as he should have been for his incredible achievements.

Now at Leicester City, Rodgers has certainly done very well with the Foxes as well, winning the FA Cup last season and the Community Shield at the start of this campaign. The club also finished fifth in the Premier League in back-to-back seasons under his management.

Leicester City have signed Ademola Lookman from RB Leipzig on a season-long loan this summer and Rodgers has revealed that he wanted to sign the player during his time at Celtic. As reported by the Independent, he said:

"“I’m really excited about working with Ade, he’s a top talent.“I wanted to take him to Celtic when he was at Charlton. I was aware of him when he was 15.“He has all the tools, he has a great dribbling ability, how he views the game, he has an eye for a goal. My hope is that this environment will give him a chance to flourish.”"

Would Lookman have been a good signing for Celtic?

At 23 years of age, Lookman is yet to establish himself in senior football till now despite having spells at quite a few top clubs. But it is safe to say that he has shown flashes of brilliance and has the talent to be a brilliant player.

Leicester City have made it a habit in recent years of developing wonderkids into top class players. It will be interesting to see if they can do the same with Lookman.

Would he have been a good signing for Celtic? That is certainly an interesting question. The Hoops have not enjoyed the greatest success in recent years when it comes turning youngsters into first-team regulars. But each player is different and if Lookman had found his feet at Parkhead, he could have certainly been a regular in the Glasgow giants’ first-team, especially considering the lack of depth on the wings in recent seasons.
