Lane Kiffin makes corn-dog plea to Katy Perry for Ole Miss game

Lane Kiffin wants Katy Perry to return to Ole Miss

It’s somehow already been seven years since Katy Perry’s legendary appearance at Ole Miss on ESPN’s “College GameDay,” and Rebels coach Lane Kiffin is begging for her to return.

On Wednesday, Kiffin put out a video urging Ole Miss fans to pack Vaught Hemingway Stadium for their matchup against Austin Peay, saying not to wait for the SEC schedule to show their enthusiasm for the team. In the tweet, he asked Katy Perry to return, with the added enticement that her corn dogs would be on the house.

Who could ever forget the time that Katy Perry arrived at “College GameDay” in Oxford, wearing a pink and black sweater and carrying a tray of hot toddy mugs.

“There were teenage girls screaming and crying and there were old men screaming and crying and there were old ladies screaming. It was a crazy, crazy scene,” ESPN executive Lee Fitting said in a later interview. “She tops the list as the most memorable celebrity picker.”

A year later, Perry appeared on the Ole Miss jumbotron to lead their Hotty Toddy chant:

Lane Kiffin must be feeling pretty excited about his team after they thumped Louisville 43-24 on Monday, a game he could not attend after a positive COVID test.

It would definitely be a cool scene if at some point this season Katy Perry returns to Oxford.
