TikTok Superstar Addison Rae Gets Movie Deal

TikTok phenomenon Addison Rae has just signed a multiple picture deal with streaming giant Netflix.

When He’s All That premiered on Netflix last month, it was an instant smash hit. Its female star, Addison Rae, has now been awarded a contract with Netflix to produce more movie content geared towards younger audiences.

Director Mark Waters’ He’s All That was a sequel to the 1999 comedy She’s All That which starred Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Rachael Leigh Cook. In the new film’s first month of streaming alone, it will have been estimated to have been played in over 55 million homes. This picture has been the number one streaming movie in 78 countries.

Addison Rae is a TikTok star who has over 83 million TikTok followers and she is now making the jump into acting. Her performance in He’s All That was relatable to younger audiences even though her character is not initially likable for her efforts to secretly transform a seemingly average guy (Tanner Buchanan) into a prom king. Rae conveyed her character’s transformation during the course of the film and by film’s end, becomes very lovable.

Rae’s performance made He’s All That a tremendous success complete with a dance off sequence towards the end of the movie where Rae’s character shakes her body on the dance floor with terrific dance moves. It’s a very entertaining dance competition scene that is well choreographed. Credit director Mark Waters for bringing out the best in Rae and making her an instant film star though Rae has always had the charm that is the key to her success. Waters previously directed Lindsay Lohan in the remake of Freaky Friday and Mean Girls both of which helped launch Lohan’s career.

Addison Rae is only 20-years old and hails from Louisiana. She released her first single called “Obsessed” this past March and earned a nod from the MTV Movie and TV awards for Best Breakthrough Social Star.

Rae’s turn in He’s All That has won her so many new fans that her follower fan base is sure to increase both on TikTok and Instagram where she already has 39 million followers. On Twitter, 5 million people follow her.

Rae is excited to be on board with Netflix, according to sources. Netflix’s director of family films, Naketha Mattocks, believes Rae has tremendous promise and Mattocks is eager to help her develop her skills as an actress.

The current Rotten Tomatoes score for He’s All That is only a 31% approval rating but audience scores for the film are much higher than that. 68% of Google users enjoyed the film and some students going back to high school this semester who have seen He’s All That are huge fans of Rae and are eager to tell their friends about the just released film which is currently on Netflix.
