The Charlotte Hornets had a solid 2020-21 campaign, ultimately losing in the NBA Play-In Tournament to the Indiana Pacers. Despite that loss, there were plenty of positives to take away from the season. They will look to build upon that during the 2021-22 season.

The Hornets have done a good job of tweaking and upgrading certain aspects of their roster this offseason. The center position was one area the team needed to upgrade, and they could accomplish that goal.

They acquired the draft rights to Kai Jones from the New York Knicks in exchange for a future first-round pick on draft night. Veteran Mason Plumlee was also acquired from the Detroit Pistons on draft night to further shore things up in the middle.

They will be part of the group that helps replace Cody Zeller and Bismack Biyombo, the team’s centers from last season. This offseason, both were free agents, with Zeller signing with the Portland Trail Blazers and Biyombo remaining unsigned.

Kelly Oubre Jr. was also signed in free agency and could present great value for the team. There were rumors of him seeking a deal that would pay him $20 million annually, but he agreed to a two-year deal worth just over $26 million.

Charlotte has much youth on the roster, so they could look to add some more veterans to the mix. One veteran that could interest them is Al Horford. What could a deal between the Hornets and Boston Celtics look like?

Let’s take a look at this hypothetical deal from Bleacher Report that lands Horford in the Queen City.
