Nick Maton’s homer can’t power the IronPigs to victory.

Worcester 4, Lehigh Valley 3

Vince Velasquez - 3.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 9 K, HR, 1 GB, 0 FB
Braeden Ogle - 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 K, HR, 0 GB, 1 FB
Luke Williams - 0 for 3
Arquimedes Gamboa - 1 for 2, HR
Adam Haseley - 0 for 4, BB, 2 K
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 3, BB, K
Jorge Bonifacio - 0 for 4, 2 K
Mickey Moniak - 0 for 4, R, 2 K
Nick Maton - 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, 3 K
Cornelius Randolph - 0 for 3, BB, K

Make that 3 homers in his last 3 games for Nick Maton. His 2-run blast in the 2nd gave the Iron Pigs the lead for much of the game. Vince Velasquez is “rehabbing” still and had a fairly decent outing. He will inevitably return to the team at some point this month. Ogle picked up his 4th AAA loss of the season and hasn’t been impressive since the Phillies traded for him back in July. Only other highlight was Arquimedes Gamboa’s 1st AAA homer and 9th overall on the season.

Greensboro 13, Jersey Shore 4

Victor Vargas - 1 IP, 7 H, 10 R, 10 ER, 3 BB, HR, WP, HBP, 2 GB, 1 FB (pickoff error)
Johan Rojas - 4 for 5, R, RBI
Simon Muzziotti - 2 for 5, RBI, K
Luis Garcia - 2 for 4, RBI, K
Vito Friscia - 1 for 5, RBI, 2 K

Maybe there is something wrong either physically or mentally with Victor Vargas. Up until his August 13th start he was having a fairly impressive season. Then in his last 4 starts he has given up 32 runs in 8.2 innings. He is obviously struggling and its a wonder the manager lets him keep taking these lumps. Ironically enough, the BlueClaws outhit Greensboro 13-10 in this one. Rojas, Garcia and Muzziotti have not missed a beat since their promotion to High-A.

Jamari Baylor - 0 for 6, 3 K
Ethan Wilson - 2 for 4, R, 3B, 2 RBI, 2 BB, CS
Kendall Simmons - 2 for 5, R, 2B, 3B, RBI, BB, K (throwing error)
Jared Carr - 0 for 6, R, K, SB
Rixon Wingrove - 1 for 6, HR, 3 K
Wilfredo Flores - 0 for 3, K
Baron Radcliff - 0 for 3, 2 K
Felix Reyes - 2 for 5, HR, BB, 2 K
Chris Burke - 0 for 3, K
TJ Rumfield - 1 for 3
Freylin Minyety - 1 for 3, R, K
Juan Aparicio - 1 for 3, R, K

Rixon Wingrove is always good for a bomb, he launched his 11th of the season in the 2nd game of the DH. Felix Reyes added his 1st of the season. Freylin Minyety, the man of many “y’s” has been spectacular at the plate this season. He is slashing .310/.467/.431 with 2 homers in 58 at-bats. The 21 year old middle infielder will be one to watch next season.
