Although Stockholm Fashion Week isn't as widely known as some other cities on the fashion calendar, notably London, Paris, Milan and New York, it boasts some of the industry's most exciting brands – and also works hard to promote the important discussion of sustainability. Not to mention, some of the most stylish women in the world live in the Swedish capital and many fashion lovers can't get enough of Swedish brands, such as Stand Studio, House of Dagmar and ATP Atelier.

What sets Stockholm apart from the rest? "It’s such a fashion-forward city, and very seasonal. So during summer, I’ll walk around in mini dresses or a full suit with flip flops. And during winter I’ll be bundled up in the biggest coat I can find. I think living in Stockholm makes my style a good mix between minimalistic and playful," influencer Matilda Djerf told us.

"I definitely can appreciate the whole Scandinavian minimalistic approach to style. Swedes prefer pieces that are long-lasting, whether it comes to the way we dress or the way we decorate our homes.," adds influencer Chrystelle Eriksberger. "I also love that you can create your own personal style out of that minimalistic look, it's a good base to work from to make it personal."

Scandinavian women are known for their chic and pared-back wardrobes which are emulated by women all over the world. The best way to add this influence into your own look is to get to know the best Scandinavian brands, take style cues from the city's coolest women and be inspired by what you see at fashion week.

Below, we present our highlights from Stockholm Fashion Week for spring/summer 2022.

Stand Studio was founded in 2014 by Nellie Kamras with the aim of creating expertly designed, high fashion, leather pieces. Since first starting out, the brand has created popular collections each season, made up of leather, faux fur, wool, vegan leather and other new sustainable materials – and its spring/summer 2022 collection is no different.

Hope began in 2017, to encourage its customers to explore fashion beyond gender. Its garments are labelled with both men's and women's sizes, as the brand believes that no one should feel limited by fashion conventions. Hope creates contemporary pieces that aim to inspire and emphasise individual style and self-expression. Its spring/summer 2022 collection champions bold prints and shades, which are made to spark creativity.

"I prefer to work with minimalistic design because I believe it accentuates the details; such as cuts and material, and communicates the design," explains 23-year-old designer Filippa Agaton. "I often consider clean, straight lines and sculptural shapes to be more striking than something that aims to be extravagant. I thrive to find balance and interface between silhouette, detail, and texture, and I believe that the greatest achievement within design is when it lasts for generations."

House of Dagmar

For spring/summer 2022, House of Dagmar recognises how in a post-pandemic lifestyle, we want to seek comfort in a more dressed-up way. This resulted in relaxed pyjama style fabric, linen suits and knitted dresses that provide working-from-home comfort but can be dressed up. The colour palette is filled with shades of white, stone and tobacco with contrasts of poppy red. These tones integrate into any wardrobe and give a much-needed airiness.

"I think we need to think about limiting ourselves to having fewer items of clothes and use them more often," Sofia Wallenstam one-third of House of Dagmar, previously told us. "You should use a product at least 100 times, preferably 200 times. We have to use our creativity when styling each garment differently each time we wear it."
