How To Watch Sony’s PS5 PlayStation Showcase, and What To Expect From It

Sony's PlayStation Showcase is expected to reveal some brand new PS5 titles, along with some returning favourites if rumours are to be believed. Regardless of how the showcase turns out, expectations are high. Here's everything you need to know about the PlayStation Showcase tonight.

How to Watch PlayStation Showcase

You can watch the showcase linked below which will start at 1:30 AM.

Along with being streamed on YouTube, the showcase can also be viewed on Twitch.

What to Expect From Sony's PlayStation Showcase

Sony has already announced that the showcase will weigh at around 40 minutes, along with a post-show which will include updates on the announcements made during the showcase. The company also revealed that the showcase will include announcements for "games releasing this holiday and beyond." Seeing as Sony did not attend E3 this year, the company's silence has been perceived by many as the calm before the storm.

It's likely that we will see the first footage from the next God of War, currently known as God of War: Ragnarok during tonight's showcase. As for other big upcoming titles for PS5 which may make an appearance, these include Final Fantasy 16, Hogwarts Legacy, Forspoken, and Gran Turismo 7 which were both revealed last year during PlayStation's showcases. There's also a good chance of getting another look at Horizon: Forbidden West, which was recently delayed to February 18, 2022.

As for other titles that could be shown during the broadcast, Naughty Dog's multiplayer spinoff from The Last of Us Part 2 is a safe bet if development on that has progressed beyond what rumours might suggest. One announcement that is still possible is that of PlayStation Studios acquiring Demons' Souls developer Bluepoint Games. Sony Japan recently tweeted a banner for the acquisition, although it was later debunked by Bluepoint. If rumours are to be believed, acquisition or not, Bluepoint Games has working on another PS5 exclusive game which might not be another remake.

One project that might make an appearance is Rockstar's remake of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas. Given how closely Rockstar Games has partnered with PlayStation for the upcoming enhanced edition of GTA 5, it wouldn't be surprising to see the remastered trilogy debut here before being released later this year.

Sony made yet another major announcement of a new studio acquisition this week leading up to the event, so it's possible that we might get an early tease for some of those projects. However, given how Sony has, in recent years, focused more on showing games that are closer to release, it wouldn't be surprising if we hear nothing about the new studios. What we're not expecting is any announcements regarding PlayStation's PC ports of existing PS4/PS5 games, such as the rumored Uncharted trilogy port. If anything, it's possible we might get an update on the PlayStation Plus collection.

As for tempering expectations, Sony also revealed that the showcase will not include any announcements about its second generation of PSVR.
