Emmys 2021: Where to Stream the Nominated Series

Regardless of which series wins the most awards, it’s the streaming services that are dominating the 2021 Emmys. Though WarnerMedia’s HBO and HBO Max together nabbed a total of 130 nominations, Netflix scored 129 nods, while Disney+ (71), Apple TV+ (35), Hulu (25) and Amazon Prime Video (20) were among the streaming platforms with strong showings.

That means that prior to the big awards night, viewers can easily watch many of the most-nominated TV series.

Wondering how and where to catch up on the series with the most Emmy nominations? Shows such as Bridgerton, Cobra Kai, The Crown, Emily in Paris, The Queen’s Gambit and others are streaming exclusively on Netflix (or available for purchase on other services), and you’ll only find The Mandalorian and WandaVision on Disney+. Ditto goes for Hulu-only The Handmaid’s Tale and Pen15, while Amazon Studios’ The Boys and The Underground Railroad are only on Amazon Prime Video.

Hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, the 73rd Emmy Awards will air Sunday, Sept. 19 on CBS. If you prefer to watch the awards show online live or on-demand, streaming services that offer access to the network include FuboTV, Hulu+, Paramount+, Sling and YouTube TV.

Black-Ish

ABC’s Black-ish has been nominated for six Emmys, including for outstanding comedy series, lead actress (Tracee Ellis Ross) and lead actor (Anthony Anderson) in a comedy series, contemporary hairstyling, contemporary costumes and character voiceover performance (Stacey Abrams). The Boys

The second season of Amazon original series The Boys has received five Emmy nominations, for outstanding drama series, writing for a drama series, original music and lyrics, sound mixing for a comedy or drama series and special visual effects in a season or movie. The superhero series can be streamed exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

Bridgerton

The first season of Netflix and Shondaland’s adaptation of Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels has earned 12 Emmy nominations, including for outstanding drama series, best lead actor for Rege-Jean Page, directing for a drama series, period costumes, production design for a narrative period or fantasy program, casting for a drama series, cinematography for a single-camera series (one hour), period and/or character hairstyling, music composition for a series, original main title theme music, music supervision, and character voiceover performance (Julie Andrews). The Regency-era series streams exclusively on Netflix.

Cobra Kai

The third season of Netflix original series Cobra Kai has earned four Emmy nominations, including outstanding comedy series, stunt performance and sound editing and sound mixing for a comedy or drama series. Already renewed for a fifth season, the family dramedy inspired by the Karate Kid film franchise is exclusively streaming on Netflix. Past episodes and seasons can be purchased on Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, iTunes/Apple TV, Vudu and YouTube Premium.

The Crown

The fourth season of Netflix original series The Crown leads this year’s nominations with 24 nods (and tying with The Mandalorian). The British political drama is nominated for outstanding drama series, lead actor (Josh O’Connor) and lead actress (Olivia Colman), supporting actress (Gillian Anderson, Helena Bonham Carter and Emerald Fennell) and supporting actor (Tobias Menzies) in a drama series, guest actor (Charles Dance) and guest actress (Claire Foy) in a drama series, directing for a drama series (for two separate episodes), writing for a drama series, production design for a narrative period or fantasy program, cinematography for a single-camera series (one hour), casting for a drama series, period costumes, single-camera picture editing for a drama series (for two episodes), period and/or character hairstyling, special visual effects in a single episode, music composition for a series (original dramatic score), music supervision and sound mixing for a drama or comedy series. The first season of Netflix series Emily in Paris has been nominated for two Emmys, including outstanding comedy series and production design for a narrative program. The fashionable series is available to stream exclusively on Netflix.

The Flight Attendant

HBO Max series The Flight Attendant has earned nine Emmy nods this year, for outstanding comedy series, lead actress in a comedy series (Kaley Cuoco), supporting actress in a comedy series (Rosie Perez), casting for a comedy series, directing for a comedy series, writing for a comedy series, production design for a narrative contemporary program, single-camera picture editing for a drama series and original main title theme. Inspired by Chris Bohjalian’s best-selling novel, the show can be streamed exclusively on HBO Max.

Hacks

HBO Max original series Hacks has nabbed 14 Emmy nominations, for outstanding comedy series, lead actress in a comedy series (Jean Smart), supporting actor in a comedy series (Carl Clemons-Hopkins), guest actress in a comedy series (Jane Adams), supporting actress in a comedy series (Hannah Einbinder), casting for a comedy series, directing for a comedy series, cinematography for a single-camera series (half-hour), production design for a narrative program, directing for a comedy series, single-camera picture editing for a drama series (for three separate episodes), contemporary costumes. The Handmaid’s Tale

I May Destroy You

Netflix series The Kominksy Method has been once again nominated for Emmy awards, with its second season earning seven nods. The dramedy has been recognized for outstanding comedy series, lead actor in a comedy series for Michael Douglas, supporting actor in a comedy series for Paul Reiser, guest actor in a comedy series for Morgan Freeman and sound mixing for a comedy or drama series. Lovecraft Country
