DWCS winner CJ Vergara expects to be in UFC flyweight rankings soon: 'I'm here to fight my ass off'

LAS VEGAS – If he continues to put guys away in impressive fashion, CJ Vergara expects to hit the rankings in no time.

Vergara (8-2-1) needed just 41 seconds to punch his ticket to the UFC when he steamrolled Bruno Korea at Dana White’s Contender Series 38 on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old notched his fifth consecutive finish as he looks to take the UFC’s flyweight division by storm.

“If I’m being realistic, three fights, three finishes and then you’ll see me break the top 10, maybe top 15,” Vergara said at the post-fight news conference. “I know the flyweight division isn’t as stacked, with the exception of you star guys, your Kai Kara’s, your Brandon Moreno’s, your Brandon Royval’s. There’s not a lot of finishers out there – killers, real killers.

“Maybe I’m just on a high horse right now, who knows, but I’m here to finish. I’m here to fight my ass off and look for a KO. I want to come out here and take your liver home or take you scalp home with me, so it shouldn’t take many fights if I keep fighting the way I’m fighting.”
