Artistic Director Stephanie Pizzo’s double bill will be set to Bach’s Partita for Violin Solo No. 1 in B Minor and the Beatles, and will be accompanied live by the Detroit electro-pop violin band, Nuclassica.

“Dancers are athletes who make art,” said Holly Hobbs, assistant professor of dance and director of the Tower Dancers. “So it’s wonderful for people who don’t have exposure to dance to come and see what dance is all about.”

This performance, put on by a professional company, is an experience that most college students don’t get.

“Part of the Hillsdale College liberal arts experience is experiencing things that are beautiful and also experiencing things that are challenging,” said Chloe Kersey, a senior Tower Dancer and dance minor. “So with the Bach2Beatles there’s something that will challenge and indulge every member of the audience. When students leave here, they won’t have an opportunity like this again.”

A masterclass will be available to Hillsdale College dance minors and dancers. They will have the opportunity to dance with the Eisenhower Detroit Dance on Friday, Sept. 10, at the Fine Arts Building from 4:00-5:30 p.m.

“It’s a huge deal for a campus and college of our size to be able to get professional companies to come and do works with us,” said Kersey. “It’s also a big deal that they’re willing to do a masterclass. Professional dancers, professional actors, and professional companies see Hillsdale College as a place that is safe and willing to listen to their art form and receive it well and beautifully.”
