PlayStation Plus Subscribers Hit Out At Underwhelming New Freebie

You can't please everyone

The free PlayStation Plus games for September 2021 have been available for a few days now and, well... you can't please everyone.

The most recent batch of PS Plus freebies is probably the strongest lineup we've had in a while, to be fair. PlayStation 4 users can nab multiplayer shooter Predator: Hunting Grounds ,and Hitman 2. PlayStation 5 owners can also grab the excellent Overcooked! All You Can Eat. Even so, one of the September freebies has got subscribers bellyaching. You can probably guess which one.

Over on the PlayStation Plus subreddit, there are two threads. One is dedicated to positive discussion of the latest free games, while the other is for criticism. On both threads, fans are complaining about Predator: Hunting Grounds. Oof.

"Just tried out Predator," wrote the brilliantly named Non_Fungible_Tolkien over on the praise thread. "Unless you have a few friends that will commit to playing with you, I found it to be somewhat lackluster, despite a love for the franchise."

"Tried Predator for a bit and the best thing I can say is that the team behind this clearly had some passion going in," added Lekgolah5. "Unfortunately they just didn't have enough resources at their disposal to make the most polished game but it's fun to drop in and out of it you can overlook its flaws."

"Not at all interested in Predator," wrote Skydude252 on the criticism thread. "I suppose MP-only games make some sense for PS+ since you need it for online play, but I like story and progression in games that you don't get from them, so not for me. Glad there are other more interesting (to me) options this month!"

"What a clunky, uninspired pile of shit," observed LostInTheVoid_, rather unkindly.

At least everybody likes Hitman 2, I guess.
