Still signed to Atlantic as a solo artist, NBA YoungBoy will continue to head up the label alongside Kyle “Montana” Clairborne in a deal that combines Motown’s “global leadership” with the “artistic and creative vision” of YoungBoy and Never Broke Again, with plans to sign and develop new artists.

“I felt like I had a responsibility to my artists to make sure to find the right partner for my label,” NBA YoungBoy said in a statement. “I’m looking forward working with Ethiopia [Habtemariam, Motown CEO and chairman], Kenoe [Jordan, Motown VP of A&R] and Motown Records.”

Habtemariam added, “I’m excited to work with Never Broke Again, a homegrown brand that has created an incredibly authentic and credible movement that represents the next generation in Louisiana’s legacy of ground-breaking Hip Hop labels. I look forward to working with YoungBoy and Montana to continue to grow their vision and reach their fans around the world.”

To begin the partnership, the first single is set to arrive in September followed by a compilation album in October. Never Broke Again Volume 1 is made up of 16 new songs with music from NBA YoungBoy, Quando Rondo, NoCap, P Yungin, Meechy Baby, Rjae and Rojay. Solo projects from 16-year-old P Yungin and Meechy Baby are also expected to be released in early 2022.

He continued, “YoungBoy is an incredible visionary whose confidence in his artistry is only outdone by his dedication and work ethic. I’m excited to welcome them into Motown and help bring the Never Broke Again label and brand to the next level.”
