A teenager was detained early Thursday morning following a police pursuit spanning three Southeast Texas cities.
On Wednesday night at 11:40 p.m., the Orange Police Dept. was notified of a juvenile runaway from Vinton, Louisiana who was believed to be in Orange. Police were informed the teen was driving a gold Nissan Murano that had been reported stolen from Toomey, Louisiana.
Officers spotted the vehicle a short time later. When they tried to pull over the car, the driver led officers on a chase from Orange, through Bridge City and Port Arthur. The driver eventually came to a stop at the Island Store in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Drive on Pleasure Island.
Police said the driver of the car was a fourteen-year-old female juvenile. Officers said there were three other teens in the car: a second juvenile female, a juvenile male and a young adult male.
The fourteen-year-old driver was detained at a juvenile facility. The other young people were released to their parents.
No one was injured during the pursuit. The investigation is ongoing between the Orange Police Department, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department and the Port Arthur Police Department.
