Venice Film Festival 2021: Jamie Lee Curtis, 62, wows in scarlet thigh-split gown at Halloween Kills premiere - before emotional star accepts Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement award
Jamie Lee Curtis looked incredible as she attended the Halloween Kills premiere at the 78th Venice Film Festival on Wednesday.
The acclaimed actress, 62, who reprises her iconic role as Laurie Strode in the horror film, wowed in a scarlet leopard print dress as she posed - before emotionally accepting the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement gong at the film festival.
The decision was made by the board of the Biennale Di Venezia and the festival's director, Alberto Barbera.
Look luxe in leopard print like Jamie wearing Dolce & Gabbana
Jamie Lee Curtis stepped onto the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival in an impeccably stylish gown this week.
Designed by Dolce & Gabbana, Jamie's dress is a modern take on the classic wrap dress, featuring a column-silhouette with a slit down the center. As typical with any wrap dress, this style features a v-neckline and fitted waist for a flattering appeal.
This dress is rendered in red leopard-print for a trendy touch that pairs well with anything. Jamie styled hers with black pointed-toe pumps.

The award ceremony for the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement took place at the Sala Grande of the Palazzo Del Cinema (Lido Di Venezia) before the out-of-competition screening of Halloween Kills, directed by David Gordon Green.
The upcoming release stars Jamie and is presented by Universal Pictures, Miramax, Blumhouse Productions and Trancas International Films. Halloween Kills arrives in theaters on October 15.
Speaking about the award after accepting her prestigious gong, Jamie said to Biennale Di Venezia: 'I am incredibly humbled to be honoured in this way by the Venice International Film Festival.
'It seems impossible to me that I’ve been in this industry long enough to be receiving Lifetime Achievement recognition, and to have it happen now, with Halloween Kills, is particularly meaningful to me.
'Halloween—and my partnership with Laurie Strode—launched and sustained my career, and to have these films evolve into a new franchise that is beloved by audiences around the world was, and remains, a gift.
'Italian Cinema has always honoured and heralded the genre that gave me my career, so I couldn’t be more proud and happy to accept this award from the Venice International Film Festival on behalf of Laurie and all the courageous heroines of the world who stand tall in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles and refuse to yield.'
Oscar-winning Italian director Roberto Benigni, who helmed the acclaimed Life is Beautiful, will also be honoured with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement award.
The 2021 Venice Film Festival takes place from 1-11 September, and is considered one of the world's oldest awards ceremonies and one of the 'Big Five' events.
The jury is headed by Parasite frontman Bong Joon Ho, who said he is 'honoured to be woven into its beautiful cinematic tradition.'
He added: 'As president of the jury — and more importantly as a perpetual cinephile — I'm ready to admire and applaud all the great films selected by the festival. I'm filled with genuine hope and excitement.'
The jury is also comprised of director Saverio Costanzo, actress Virginie Efira, star Cynthia Erivo, actress Sarah Gadon, documentarian Alexander Nanau, and director Chloé Zhao.
This year's festival has also seen the grand return of its star-studded red carpet premieres, after last year's event was drastically scaled back due to the Covid pandemic.
Last year's occasion saw a significantly smaller number of guests in attendance, with all red carpet arrivals required to adhere to social distancing, with temperature checks and mask wearing mandatory at the event.
Despite its return, this year's festival is still adhering to strict Covid guidelines, following a rise in cases in Italy.
Public access to the red carpet is banned, and more than 10 testing stations have been set up.
All attendees must show proof of a negative test or vaccination to enter a screen, and masks are required indoors.
The first official trailer for the latest instalment in the Halloween franchise, Halloween Kills, was released in June.
The seemingly indestructible Michael Meyers is back for another scare fest with Jamie back as Laurie Strode a whopping 43 years after starring in the original film.
David Gordon Green, who revived the classic horror franchise with 2018's Halloween, which earned more than $250 million at worldwide box office, making it the top grossing film in the franchise that dates back to the original in 1978, is back in the director's seat.
The 2018 film also set new record for the biggest opening weekend in history for a horror film starring a woman, according to Deadline.
In the new horror flick, Meyers is on the hunt for Laurie (Curtis), her daughter (Judy Greer), and her granddaughter (Andi Matichak), who thought they had finally escaped the knife-wielding madman.
The Strode women end up joining a group of other survivors of Meyers' first rampage, and decide they are going to form a vigilante mob with the goal of hunting and killing him once and for all.
