Some Apple Watch bands are ‘currently unavailable’ online as Apple Watch Series 7 launch nears
Ahead of Apple’s “California streaming” special event next week, which is expected to see the launch of the iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, and more, Apple is showing some Apple Watch bands as unavailable to purchase online and in-store, further adding fuel to rumors that a launch of an updated model is imminent.
Reports suggest the Apple Watch Series 7 will be available in new 41mm & 45mm sizes, replacing the current 40mm and 44mm options. With the bump in size, rumors suggest the new device may not be compatible with existing Apple Watch bands, pointing to Apple re-releasing its existing range of accessories to fit the larger watches.
Leaker Max Weinbach claimed last week that he had heard from an Apple Store employee that retail locations would no longer be getting new Apple Watch bands available once stocks had sold out, claiming “the new Apple Watch will use different bands that won’t be compatible with old watches.”
As spotted by 9to5Mac, several Apple Watch bands are now unavailable for purchase, including seasonal watch band colors and classic straps such as the Milanese Loop. The report notes that the Sport band, Solo Loop, Sport Loop, and Braided Solo are showing as unavailable at some Apple Stores, whereas the straps remain available for purchase online.
The Apple Watch Series 7 is said to get a faster processor, improved wireless connectivity, and an updated screen, with Bloomberg reporting that Apple has several new health-related features in development, including a body temperature feature originally intended to launch this year.
