The day after an injury scare has been a good one for Yankees ace Gerrit Cole, whose tight hamstring was feeling better.
Forced out of his start Tuesday night in the fourth inning, Cole felt good enough Wednesday to jump on a treadmill before the Yankees-Toronto Blue Jays’ game at Yankee Stadium.

It’s too early, however, to know if Cole will make his next scheduled start on Monday in a makeup game against the Minnesota Twins in New York, or if the righty will be pushed back a few days or skipped a turn.
Asked if there’s an update in his pre-game presser, here is what manager Aaron Boone had to say:
“Other than he’s doing pretty well today … He went through some testing and that went well. I know he’s getting ready to jump on the treadmill right now, so I think he’s encouraged. I don’t think we have anything definitive yet. I think the next 24 or 48 hours is going to determine where we move in how he responds. But I think he was encouraged by how he felt coming in here (to the ballpark Wednesday) and the start of going through some different treatment things and what he’s able to workload wise handle.”
Cole started experiencing hamstring discomfort Tuesday in the fourth inning of the Yankees’ 5-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays and opted to remove himself from the game rather than risk further injury.
Thus far, the Yankees have opted against Cole having an MRI on his hamstring.
“We’ll see if that’s in the cards moving forward,” Boone said. “I don’t know yet.”
