Injustice Animated Film Trailer Has Dead Lois & Superman Gone Bad

Why is it always up to Batman? Whenever anything goes wrong and the world is going to end, it seems like it’s always Batman who has to do what’s right. That’s the case in DC Animated Film Injustice, which IGN dropped an official trailer for today. The film is based on the game and comic of the same name and looks to turn Superman against the world as the Joker drives him crazy by taking everything he loves.

For those who have played the game (or read any comics where Supes goes bad), the outline of the plot should be familiar. This time the trigger for Superman turning bad is an evil plot by the Joker that succeeds fantastically, killing Lois Lane and Superman’s unborn child and destroying all of Metropolis. The end result is Superman becoming the dictator of the entire Earth and Batman leading a rebellion against him, but only really the former is shown in the Injustice trailer.

The voice cast for Injustice has a lot of decently sized names in it, including Justin Hartley as Superman, Anson Mount as Batman, Gillian Jacobs as Harley Quinn, Kevin Pollak as Joker and Jonathan Kent, and Janet Varney as Wonder Woman. Matt Peters, who directed the animated Justice League Dark, is helming the film, and as it’s coming from DC’s storied animation studio, there is every chance that it’s going to be really good. Its live-action efforts might be lacking, but DC has rocked the animated side of things since the days of Batman: The Animated Series. Warner Bros. Animation has also been hard at work bringing its other fighting game to animated action with a series of extremely mature Mortal Kombat films.

Injustice arrives October 19, 2021 on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray, and digital.
