The Yankees summoned in their ace in the hole from Triple-A to start Wednesday night when they try to avoid their first five-game losing streak since April.
Rookie right-hander Luis Gil, who didn’t allow a run over 15 2/3 innings in his first three Major League starts, is back to face the Toronto Blue Jays, who took the first two games of a four-game set.
First pitch for Wednesday’s game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. YES and MLB Network will televise the game.

The Yankees’ lineup excludes shortstop Gleyber Torres, who was benched for the second day in a row on the heels of more defensive struggles. Andrew Velazquez is getting the start again at short.
Also, second baseman DJ LeMahieu has been dropped from leadoff to fifth in Boone’s lineup with the Yankees in a team hitting slump that’s included them scoring one run in their last two games.
