Yankees vs. Blue Jays prediction: Bet on Luis Gil to lead Yanks

The Yankees have fallen on tough times since winning 13 straight games and have the Blue Jays hot on their heels in the AL wild-card picture. They will turn to Luis Gil to lend a good start and extra breathing room in the race on Wednesday.

Gil has dazzled in his three career starts, having yet to surrender a run in 15  2/3 innings. He has 18 strikeouts and has allowed just nine hits in the small sample size and has gone 5-1 with a 3.86 ERA with 12.9 strikeouts per nine innings in the minors.

Blue Jays rookie Alek Manoah has had an impressive start to his career, as well, logging a 3.63 ERA and 5-2 record in his first 15 career starts. But he has been less effective recently, allowing 16 runs in his last four starts. Opponents have hit .260 in those 20  1/3 innings, after batting .181 in his first 11 starts.
