Leicester City v Manchester City - The Opposition

Manchester City travel to Leicester City on Saturday, riding high on the back of two successive 5-0 victories that have made their opening day defeat to Spurs very quickly become a distant memory.

The Foxes got their season off to a winning start when they beat City 1-0 in the Community Shield at Wembley, and the blues will be looking for a modicum of revenge when the two meet on Saturday.

Form

In the Premier League, Leicester beat Wolves 1-0 at the King Power Stadium, however their second match at West Ham saw the East London side thrash the Foxes 4-1, in a match that saw Ayoze Perez sent off for stamping on Pablo Fornals.

Leicester then travelled to Carrow Road to condemn Norwich to a third successive defeat, with the Foxes winning 2-1.

After three matches, Leicester sit 9th in the league, level on points with City with a goal difference of -1.

Jamie Vardy enjoys scoring against City, and is leading the Leicester goal scoring again with two goals from four matches in all competitions. Former blue Kelechi Iheanacho Marc Albrighton and Youri Tielemans have all scored one apiece. However, Vardy has had 11 shots on goal, giving him a goal conversion rate of just 18%

Assist wise, Ricardo Pereira has got two assists so far this season, with Vardy claiming the other. Pereira has attempted 123 passes in 4 games, with 91 completed, a pass accuracy of 74%.

Brendan Rodgers is still at the Leicester helm and leads them into Europa League action later this month. Rodgers has taken charge of 115 matches, winning 61 and losing 33, a win ratio of 53%.

Last Time Out

The blues ran out 2-0 winners in last season’s corresponding fixture as they closed in on the title. If they are to win on Saturday, they will have to do so without the two goalscorers in that match. Gabriel Jesus is at the moment, suspended from appearing for the blues due to a FIFA ruling while Benjamin Mendy is...suspended in general.
