Shameless alum Steve Howey is stepping into Arnold Schwarzenegger’s shoes as the lead of CBS’ True Lies reboot pilot, our sister site Variety reports.
Howey’s character Harry — played by Schwarzenegger in the 1994 action-comedy movie — is a seemingly boring computer salesman and devoted family man who is actually a spy. The part of Harry’s suburban wife, who is recruited to work alongside him as they try to reignite their marriage, has yet to be cast. (Jamie Lee Curtis played the character in the movie.)
The project hails from James Cameron, who directed and produced the film, as well as McG (Supernatural) and Matt Nix (Burn Notice), who wrote the pilot.

Which of today’s TVLine Items pique your interest?
Too bad True Lies will be on CBS
Susan Sarandon and Trace Atkins….hard hard pass
Love Trace Adkins. I hope he can act. Not sure about the True Lies series, but I’ve liked Steve Howey ever since he was on Reba. He did a good job being a tough guy on SEAL Team, too, so he can handle both comedy and drama. I might give it a look if it gets picked up.
yes he can act as he has had a few roles as i think one of the movies was mom’s night out or something it’s hilarious and it’s the exact oppsssite of what trace adkins is in real life as he plays this rough but kind hearted biker
and acttually it’s mom’s night out but he has been in big movies and probably the biggest movie role he has was in the lincoln lawyer so yes he can definitely act
I really, really wanted the Tik Tok star in question to be the Cranberry juice skateboarding to Fleetwood Mac guy. Can someone make that happen please?
Not excited about the True Lies show at all, even though I like Steve Howey.
Tom Arnold added a ton of humor to the True Lies movie. That character in the series better be very good.
Too bad Shanola Hampton already got another new role. I could watch Steve and Shanola play married forever
What is wrong with Netflix? She was the worst part of that movie. I didn’t watch it. I watched reviews online with clips and after seeing the clips I can’t watch the movie. She can’t act even a little bit. The sad thing is they could have cast her in a smaller role and still got her fans to watch the movie without completely ruining any potential the movie had with a lead that can’t act. The fact this girl is being given multiple movies while people with actual talent can’t even get a bit part is awful. I will be so happy when this TikTok craze dies down and these influencers fan base ages out so they can fade into obscurity because they don’t have any actual talent and just rip off other people for content.
The Kenny Rogers tribute special lineup is wonderful!
