The Mandalorian's first season introduced fans to an intriguing character called The Armorer, one of Din Djarin's trusted allies who sort of served as his voice of reason. However, as interesting as the character is, The Armorer only made sporadic appearances throughout the series and apparently, there's a reason behind it as creator Jon Favreau himself never intended the character, played by Emily Swallow to become a main fixture in the series.

Swallow recently appeared in a panel at the 2021 Dragon Con (via The Direct) where she revealed Favreau's original plans for The Armorer. Turns out, the character was originally set to die during Season 1's finale but Favreau changed his mind about killing her off. Swallow explains: "We were being set up for that! Jon [Favreau] told me that he had originally written it that she did sacrifice herself and that was the end of the Armorer. And then he changed his mind, and I was like 'Thank you!'"

It's safe to say that Jon Favreau ultimately saw the importance of The Armorer which is why he reversed his original plans of writing the character off the show. Interestingly, we never saw The Armorer make an appearance in Season 2 which was quite baffling considering a lot of familiar faces from Season 1 showed up.

But with the third season set to begin production soon, the chances of The Armorer being brought back to the show are extremely high given the fact that Season 3's plot will revolve around the Throne of Mandalore and the epic clash between Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze. The Armorer could end up playing a vital role in helping Din Djarin claim the throne or the other way around.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to begin filming soon.
