Loretta Lynn, Garth Brooks and More Book Flood Relief Concert

Last month, country legend Loretta Lynn saw the devastating impact of floods in Middle Tennessee up close and personal, since her Hurricane Mills ranch sits inside the disaster zone. And true to form, she’s stepping up help her neighbors in need … along with some famous friends.

Announcing Loretta Lynn’s Friends: Hometown Rising, the Country Music Hall of Famer has booked Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs and more for an all-star benefit concert.

Set for Monday, September 13 at 7 p.m. CT at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House, the live-concert performance will raise money for United Way of Humphreys County. Tickets sold out within hours of the show being announced, but those who aren’t attending can catch the show live on Circle Network at 8/7c, or stream it on Circle All Access via FacebookTwitter and YouTube.

Support for the show was clearly already through the roof, but on Wednesday (September 8), Lynn took things a few steps further, adding Keith Urban, Reba McEntire, Little Big Town, BRELAND and Brittney Spencer to the bill.

At 89 years old, Lynn is no longer able to perform herself, but she felt the need to help out all the same.

“I am so honored that so many of our friends are coming together to show so much love for our neighbors and community after such a devastating loss,” Lynn says. “You know, we’ve all needed help from time-to-time, and that’s why when we can give back, we do.”

Striking the area west of Nashville in mid August, record amounts of rain fell on the counties surrounding Lynn’s home, causing damage that still has yet to be fully accounted. The floods happened quickly, sometimes taking over small towns in less than an hour, and also resulted in the deaths of at least 22 people. Sadly, one of those killed was Lynn’s longtime ranch foreman, Wayne Spears.

Loretta Lynn is not the only country star looking to raise relief money for Middle Tennessee. Morgan Wallen has also announced a charity concert, setting Morgan Wallen and Friends for September 8 at Nashville’s Marathon Music Works.
